There are 2 types of Aluminium Tubing:
1) Aluminium Extruded Tubing: Aluminium Extruded Tubing, formed by hot extruding through a die, is available as a seamless or structural grade product.
2) Aluminium Drawn Tubing: Aluminium Drawn Tubing is a seamless extruded Tubing is brought to final size by drawing through a die.

ASTM B210 / ASME SB210 Standard Specification for Aluminum and Aluminum-Alloy Drawn Seamless Tubing
This specification covers aluminum and aluminum-alloy drawn seamless Tubing in straight lengths and coils for general purpose.
1.1 This specification covers aluminum and aluminum-alloy drawn seamless Tubing in straight lengths and coils for general purpose and pressure applications in alloys (Note 2), tempers, and thicknesses shown in Table 2. Coiled Tubing are generally available only as round Tubing with a wall thickness not exceeding 0.083 in. and only in nonheat-treatable alloys.
1.2 Alloy and temper designations are in accordance with ANSI H35.1/H35.1(M). The equivalent Unified Numbering System alloy designations are those of Table 1 preceded by A9, for example, A91100 for aluminum designation 1100 in accordance with Practice E527.
Note 1-See Specification B483/B483M for aluminum-alloy drawn Tubing for general purpose applications; Specification B234 for aluminum-alloy drawn seamless Tubing for condensers and heat exchangers; and Specification B241/B241M for aluminum-alloy seamless pipe and seamless extruded Tubing.
Note 2-Throughout this specification, use of the term alloy in the general sense includes aluminum as well as aluminum alloy.
1.3 A complete metric companion to Specification B210 has been developed Specification B210M; therefore, no metric equivalents are presented in this specification.

Heat Treating T Temper Codes for Aluminium Tubing
- T1 – Cooled from an elevated temperature shaping process and naturally aged to a substantially stable condition.
- T2 – Cooled from an elevated temperature shaping process, cold worked, and naturally aged to a substantially stable condition.
- T3 – Solution heat treated, cold worked, and naturally aged to a substantially stable condition.
- T4 – Solution heat treated, and naturally aged to a substantially stable condition.
- T5 – Cooled from an elevated temperature shaping process then artificially aged.
- T6 – Solution heat treated then artificially aged.
- T7 – Solution heat treated then overaged/stabilized.
- T8 – Solution heat treated, cold worked, then artificially aged.
- T9 – Solution heat treated, artificially aged, then cold worked.
- T10 – Cooled from an elevated temperature shaping process, cold worked, then artificially aged.
Additional digits may be used after the first T temper digit to indicate subsequent stress relieving by processes such as stretching, compressing, or a combination.
H Temper Strain Hardening Codes for Aluminium Tubing
- H1 – Strain hardened only
- H2 – Strain hardened and partially annealed
- H3 – Strain hardened and stabilized
- H4 – Strain hardened and lacquered or painted. This assumes that thermal affects from the coating process affect the strain hardening; seldom encountered.
